A US F-22 fighter jet shot down an unidentified object using an AIM-9X missile over the North coast of Alaska at 1:45pm EST on the 10th February 2023. The object was reportedly not a balloon, and roughly the size of a car.
The object broke into pieces within US sovereign airspace over frozen US territorial water. It had been tracked since the 9th of February when F-35 fighter jets were sent to up to investigate, according to a US official. The object was heading towards the North Pole at an altitude of 40,000 feet when it was shot down on the 10th February 2023.
The event was said to have taken place off the coast of Prudhoe Bay, AK 99734.
